'The Governator' Terminated

Arnold Schwarzenegger's animated project The Governator has been cancelled following the announcement the actor is halting his Hollywood career to concentrate on his private life.

The actor stunned fans earlier this week  when he revealed he had fathered a lovechild with a member of his household staff more than a decade ago. The announcement came just days after he and his wife Maria Shriver had announced their split.

Following the revelations, Schwarzenegger announced on Thursday he has decided put a hold on his big comeback, which included a new Terminator film.

Hours after the statement, bosses in charge of his planned comic book and TV show The Governator also pulled the plug on the project.

A representative tells TMZ.com, "In light of recent events, A Squared Entertainment, POW, Stan Lee Comics, and Archie Comics, have chosen to not go forward with the Governator project."

The comic was due to hit shelves in 2012 and feature Shriver, as well as the pair's four children.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Returns As 'The Governator'

Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to show business as a cartoon hero who creates a secret high-tech crime-fighting center under his Los Angeles home.

The action man-turned-politician has turned himself into a superhero, known as The Governator.
He tells Entertainment Weekly magazine, "When I ran for governor (of California) back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about the Governator, I thought the word was so cool."

"The word Governator combined two worlds - the world of politics and the movie world. And (this cartoon) brings everything together. It combines the governor, the Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies."
Schwarzenegger's new animated TV show and comic book, which is being co-developed by Spider-Man co-creator Stan Lee, will also feature the movie star's wife Maria Shriver and the couple's four kids.
The project will hit both TV screens and comic book stores in 2012.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Back In 'The Governator' Trailer - Watch It

Despite the announcement arriving around April Fools' Day, Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't joking around when he said he would be back as The Governator. A trailer was released today for the cartoon series, which is tentatively set to air in 2012 and was co-developed by Stan Lee.

Uhm, wow. Part-Terminator, part-Batman, Arnold access his secret hanger underneath his mansion and saddles up on a motorcycle while wearing some sort of power suit. Of course, there is that Matrix bullet-dodge thrown in as well. I'm also wondering what random kids are doing hanging out in Arnold's basement... apparently they are his kids with Maria Shriver, who will also make an appearance in the show.
